Decimal coin hoard.

 Tuesday 2 September 2014.

Gawjus day again today so I just had to make the most of it and do a bit of detecting. I spent the whole morning on my usual haunt and these days I seem to be getting more into the thicket of the site, all brambles and nettles with just a few bare spots here and there where I can swing my machine. My body craves lovely flat fields. Still, its somewhere to metal detect so can't complain.

As expected I didn't find anything old, just the usual modern stuff but a few targets to keep me busy. That ring there made my heart skip a beat but turns out its a junkie. That pile of 5p, 2p and 1p top right all came from the same hole, right up against a tree, 31 coins in total, unusual that, must have slipped out someone's pocket or they were stashed. Oldest coins were 3xthruppeny bits and a halfpenny. Best find was a Royal Tank Regiment badge.

So, nothing exciting to write home about but as always its nice to get out. Plus its all a good learning experience trying different settings with my Deus.

  1. Not a bad day at all mate, Love the HMV badge type thing. That takes me back to the glorious early 80's, catching a train to Birmingham to spend my student loan on 12 inch singles; :D

    Jordan.
