Tuesday 15 April 2014Today on the beach at Slapton Sands I had a midday detecting session lasting about four hours. My idea was to catch the low water and detect up alongside this low water mark. After about an hour I gave up as nothing was coming up there and moved up on the high tide mark. This was a lot better and I was finding coins.
There's a few decimal coins there in the pic, also some pre-decimal of a florin, a shilling, 3 sixpences, 3 thruppenny bits and 3 pennies, all badly worn. The settings I was mostly using were the Deus Fast program with full tones, zero discrimination and full sensitivity on tracking. A little bit noisy, but the signals came through loud and clear and was easy to tell the iron.
Nothing special came up again, but it was all good sport. I must be due for a decent find soon, maybe next time.
